Walden (1854)

Do you need to relax?
Do you need to take your mind off the daily hustle and bustle…Thoreau has what you need…

I’m generally not a green, back to nature kind of fellow…but when it comes to finding a book that makes me want to meld with the forest and start talking to the trees…this is the winner.

Published in 1854, the book took a while to catch on…meaning it did not do well on its first crack out of the bag.  Thoreau’s book is a compression of two years, two months and two days spent living on a secluded pond out in the woods.  He built the cabin he resided in and embarked on a deep journey of self-exploration.  In this case, what he produced is nothing short of an opium den for the soul.  It makes me want to build a log cabin out in the middle of nowhere and contemplate my navel…if only my job didn’t get in the way.  I guess I’ll have to settle for the book.  See you in two, and two…and two.
