We’re off to see a wizard…the wonderful first editions of
Oz…
How deep to you want to go down the rabbit hole? Or should I say how long do you want to spin
around inside the cyclone with toto and the gang. There are more books in the Oz series than a bottle
of Carter’s pills….and it’s not just the volumes that Baum wrote…other authors
have continued the series right into the 21st century! Here are the books (some of them first
editions) that L. Frank Baum wrote:
The Wonderful Wizard
of Oz (1900)
The Marvelous Land
of Oz (1904)
Ozma of Oz
(1907)
Dorothy and the
Wizard in Oz (1908)
The Road to Oz
(1909)
The Emerald City of
Oz (1910)
The Patchwork Girl
of Oz (1913)
Tik-Tok of Oz
(1914)
The Scarecrow of Oz
(1915)
Rinkitink in Oz
(1916)
The Lost Princess of
Oz (1917)
The Tin Woodman of
Oz (1918)
The Magic of Oz
(1919)
Glinda of Oz
(1920)
In addition to Baum’s books, there are numerous later
stories written either by authorization for the estate or as fan fiction. Should you wish to explore these books…and
they stretch from the 1920’s to 2014, here’s a useful source: List of Oz books
